+43 The driver's window rolling all the way down on a single press is an inconvenience, not a "feature", amirite?

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

My window only does that if I hold the button for more than a second

Is the car German? Sounds like something a smart German would do.

Usually not, from my experience.

🤣😂🤣

Yep, there's a definite "detent" in mine.

My Ford does this, and my Chevy before it did that too.

All automatic windows work like you've described

In some cars (like my dad's current car), it takes only slightly more force to push it all the way than it does to push it halfway, so it's really easy to overshoot unless you put in a considerable amount of effort not to

Yeah. This is true. It's the worst thing ever. Up, down, up, down, wtf stupid window. I just want a little draft. Im not delivering mail. The window thing really upsets me. I live an easy life.

by No_Society 2 weeks ago

no for real !!!! it's so frustrating, honestly. especially when i just want a little crack, so i just tap the little button, and i'm blasted full in the face. terrible design do not approve 3/10

Have you tried pressing down part way? Mine rolls all the way down on a full press, but only rolls down as long as I'm pressing the button down when pressing part way.

Huh, interesting. I can't think of the last time I've rolled down my driver's window without wanting to roll it all the way down.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

Seriously? Literally all of the time for me. I almost never want it entirely open, that's an inconvenience most of the time. The only time I consistently want the window all the way open is a drive through, in which case I can just manually roll it down. Or if it's suuuper hot, but then I just put it down before I even leave neutral

My truck has the hand crank windows so I have total control.

I drove a rental Q3 last week. Was next to impossible to get the windows to be half way down. Kept going full down or full up. So annoying. Made me vouch to never buy a Q3 for such a silly reason.

In every car I've had the button has two steps. Half press for manual, full press for auto.

Back when I used to regularly have to go through a toll booth, I found it really useful. Now that toll booths have been eliminated where I live, it is mostly just annoying.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

Feels like user error on this one

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

Unless you're talking about the ones that always go automatic after 1sec press, simply don't press the button all the way. Easy.

by No_Alps8405 2 weeks ago

True unpopular opinion. This feature is sick I have it on my truck front windows. Wish I had it in the back ones too 🥲

by Secure-Writing-8174 2 weeks ago

Yeah it's a very annoying design. If it was a long press rather than a full press it'd make infinitely more sense. I almost always push too hard. Even done properly I'm not exactly sure who it's conveniencing. It's just annoying.

by Intelligent_Fig 2 weeks ago

Funny, I find the long press ones far more annoying.

by No_Alps8405 2 weeks ago

It's so incredibly annoying
