+33 Airports shouldn't serve alcohol until Midday, amirite?

by Anonymous 1 week ago

your schedule isn't the same as others......instead of bitching you should be happy they're drinking because they're paying your bills

by Fluffy-Creme-8942 1 week ago

My bar isn't at the airport but sure they are paying someone's bills

by Anonymous 1 week ago

so then why do you care? I'm a bartender and working in the service industry you understand that people have all different types of schedules. When do you expect a bartender to be able to enjoy themselves? A lot of bars open at 6 am for night shift workers, not everyone works a 9-5

by Fluffy-Creme-8942 1 week ago

Sure and in that example fair play to them. Finishing work and having a drink is one of the best parts of the day no matter what time it is But this is airports not a bar for night workers. In my opinion there is a difference. But I guess that opinion is just unpopular

Aren't most people drinking in airport bars early in the morning on layovers coming from time zones where it's still drinking time

by Superb-Notice9449 1 week ago

This is very fair and true. Hadn't considered layovers

by Anonymous 1 week ago

This is key. Beijing is 15 hours ahead of Seattle.Someone drinking at 5 a.m. Pacific Time is drinking at 8 p.m. Beijing time.

by AshamedFirefighter48 1 week ago

That's it. I was looking and around and only seeing people who would have arrived at the airport today to start their journey not those halfway through it. As they say to assume is to make an ass out of you and me

by Anonymous 1 week ago

No they do this in Britain as well (before a 1hr flight to Jersey), nothing to do with layovers, it's just a mindless "oh there's a bar, so omg we have to use it" mindset

by Anonymous 1 week ago

So what actual reason do you have other than "you don't like it". What's the difference of them getting drunk and rowdy at 9AM vs 5PM?

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Personal experience, people as a whole have better control when they start drinking at 5pm fewer people over do it compared to starting at 5am when their body is not fully awake and so the alcohol hits them harder

by Anonymous 1 week ago

But not everyone's body ‘isn't fully awake' at 5am. I work night shift and I get off work at 5am. 5am to me is what 5pm is to people who work day shift. People have different schedules than you, and by time you're old enough to drink at a bar you're old enough to decide what your body can handle.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

They're adults. Adults get to decide what their bodies can handle. There's not really a debate there my guy

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Sorry I used poor wording. I don't mean to suggest I know better than they do, only that we don't always know our own bodies that well. I have certainly over cooked it in the past thinking I could handle what I was drinking and managed to convincingly prove myself wrong

You can have my 9am airport bloody mary when you pry it out of my cold dead hands.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Haha fair enough

by Anonymous 1 week ago

It's just really kind of gross Why?

by skilesollie 1 week ago

If it's an international airport, then it's always midday for someone there.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Airports should be international waters where drinking is 24/7

by Anonymous 1 week ago

What holiday has started?

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Generally if you ask people why they are drinking at 5am in the airport the response revolves around how they are now on holiday so drinking can happen at any time of the day

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Fair enough mate hahahah, I forgot that was the whole point hahhaha sorry mate

If I had to fly you best believe I want to be almost black out drunk lol, I dislike flying and never would but if I was forced would indeed want alcohol. Also your mornings are my nights and as I work nights and stay up in the morning/afternoon.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Assuming everyone is from the same place and same time zone and woke up at the same time as you to be there at 5:30am. If I cracked a white claw open, why would it make a difference if it was 5:30 pm?

by Defiant_Mongoose9619 1 week ago

As others have pointed out. I made an ass out of you and me by not considering layovers. Was looking at it from the pov that everyone was on departure and therefore starting their day at a similar time to me

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Gotcha, but let's make more asses here. EVEN if it was 5:30 AM and they had just woken up to be there. What is wrong with drinking in the morning?

by Defiant_Mongoose9619 1 week ago

In my unpopular opinion people are more likely to overdo it in that scenario rather than having been awake all day and then going for a drink. As a result, and I may have recency bias, but this generally happens at airports where people are more poorly behaved in the morning than the afternoon/evenings

by Anonymous 1 week ago

I think that is an unpopular opinion! If I was gonna get blacked out and overdo it.. I'd want as little time before bedtime. If you're getting hammered that early? You've got the whole day to stumble through!!

by Defiant_Mongoose9619 1 week ago

I get off work at 5am why shouldn't I be allowed a drink?

by Anonymous 1 week ago

By all means enjoy the after work drink. It's one of the best ones no matter what. My gripe is more with people at airports going off on holiday and getting black out drunk at 6am because they are on holiday

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Yea, I work nights. So I'm awake at late night early morning. I don't switch to a different schedule on vacation so again why can't I have a drink

by Anonymous 1 week ago

You can this is 100% where my opinion falls down

by Anonymous 1 week ago

OP works at a bar and doesn't know night shift workers exist? What lol. This is more out of touch than the college protesters.
