+36 You don't actually know what it's like to fall asleep. amirite?

Idk how common this is, but when I'm waking up on my own, I'll be aware that I'm dreaming until I decide to fully wake up

Similar thing happens with me relatively often with dreams. I think you described it very well especially the pressure on your body from the bed fading in, and your vision fading to black.

actually i had a lucid dream once that i initiated. the idea is to stay aware as long as possible but relaxing the whole body physically. falling asleep feels like your vision fov is expanding slowly and your whole body falling down

Inducing sleep paralysis 101

by Familiar-Meaning-556 2 weeks ago

i had full control of my dream that night. i never had sleep paralysis

Getting over the fear of sleep paralysis is an extremely rewarding mental accomplishment. In my 20s i was obsessed with the idea of lucid dreaming and must've went through sleep paralysis 15+ times. Now i kind of get excited because it's step1 for lucid dreaming

On a night where I get sleep paralysis I can tell it is going to happen as I'm falling asleep. It feels like I'm falling into my bed through my head. Sometimes I can catch it and jerk myself awake. Feels like the sunken place in Get Out.

Yeah exactly. That's why death doesn't really scare me. If there is an afterlife that could be kinda cool I guess, but if there isn't it would just feel like going to sleep and never having to wake up in the morning

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

Couldn't agree more. I wish I have an eternal rest after death

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

So what are dreams?

by IncidentLeast8139 2 weeks ago

I mean dreamless sleep

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

That's why I never sleep. Because sleep is the cousin of death.

You've never dreamt before? Dreaming and REM-sleep literally disproves this. Lucid dreams and sleep paralysis are even more things that disproves this...

by Reasonable-Breath 2 weeks ago

I'm talking about dreamless sleep

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

I actually do know. I feel asleep while still conscious, and I was so surprised that I immediately woke up again.

by dasiadoyle 2 weeks ago

One time I fell asleep while being aware of everything going on so basically I was lucid dreaming and was aware and lucid from the moment I fell asleep to the moment I woke up

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

You can fall asleep while still fully conscious, there are ways to trick the body into sleep naturally

by Adorable_Pen 2 weeks ago

Wrong. YOU don't know what it's like to fall asleep. A lot of lucid dreamers actively witness the moment they transition from laying in bed into their dreams. Had it happen myself.

I know how it is. It started recently but if im really tired ill fall into a weird state where ill dream while half awake half asleep and then i decide if imma keep sleeping or keep being awake. Sometimes i just be waking up bc i gotta turn off the screen beforehand

You've never been truly exhausted if you believe that

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

Then what is it I feel when I am falling asleep?

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

I can, maybe it's a skill diff

by reese32 2 weeks ago

I disagree. It's part of the reason I've had insomnia all my life. Some of us are painfully aware of it. It's not pleasant.

only really felt that like 3 times.. it's like plunging in some deep well.. after a second you try to recover but it feels like lifting a semi-truck. the reason I remember it is that I panic after a second or two of falling asleep and I feel like a lightning struck my head.. that's why the experience remains so vivid.

I CAN Allow me to introduce myself, my name is John Sleep, and I invented and perfected falling asleep - I'm so good at it now that i can fall asleep and wake up not a moment later, up to 500 times per night
