+35 Not enough compassion and solidarity is shown to men regarding losing their hair, amirite?

by niko21 1 week ago

I'm starting to lose my hair, thinning from the back at 30, got a pretty good bald spot going by now It bugged me at first but I got used to it, it's not really a huge deal. Society will generally will judge a man on what they do not the finer points on how they look

oh so you only care about the mocking when it's something that affects you Good to know OP

Bad faith argument and has me questioning your reading comprehension. "It's not just the mocking" = the mocking is included in the behaviours i'd like to see change "I think people should be more supportive" = whilst not mocking others, people should support them more

You'd probably get more people on your side if you didn't throw in a random "fat people deserve to be made fun of" into your argument for no reason.

by ledaswift 1 week ago

How did you get that from what I wrote? I've never mocked someone cause of their weight but can recognise its less acceptable than mocking someone for losing their hair whilst the latter is out of a person's control.

by niko21 1 week ago

You literally described multiple ways to prevent hair loss that exist. It's not out of someone's control

by ledaswift 1 week ago

Only recently they've become viable and it doesn't work for everyone. Before that company's were pretty much shifting snake oil.

by niko21 1 week ago

Okay well we're talking about the present day. Since you seem to think it's not as bad to make fun of someone for something they could theoretically change, then baldness is up for grabs

by ledaswift 1 week ago

The difference is fairly obvious. People gain weight due to their lifestyle choices. People lose hair because of genetic factors. They are different and OP created an example of where talking about someones weight is frowned upon, but talking about someone's balding is not.

Guys don't realize how ridiculous they look

by KitchenLobster 1 week ago

Yeah sticking with fuzz is the opposite of a power move . Like fat guy wearing a shirt to swim

by KitchenLobster 1 week ago

We've been conditioned to believe that hair = strength/manliness which is ridiculous.

I don't agree with you, and have never made that association personally. As a matter of fact, I personally think that men look manlier with less hair. Not more. I personally associate hair with femininity.

Apologies, I meant to reply to the op.

Who has?

by KitchenLobster 1 week ago

Never even heard such a thing but will say you'll get zero respect with a comb over or a rug. Patchy makes you look weak for sure

by KitchenLobster 1 week ago

No, you are just particularly sensitive about your hair.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

If people walk around with fuzz that should be shaved , you can ridicule them. Same as a rug
