+44 Your pet's social life is a reflection of your own social life. amirite?

My dogs go to daycare every day while I'm working, they have a far better social life than I do.

Dude, I have cats… Damned if I know what they do if they are out and about.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Lol that's true I guess it really only applies to dogs

I guess I'm a lazy hungry asshole. (Cat owner)

Yeah me too. Sometimes I pee on the bathroom mat.

Our dog is a rescue and has never been able to chill around other dogs, and we have a cat, so I guess we're antisocial psychopaths LOL

Ummm. I have two cats. I don't see the male one sometimes for days and the female one is sleeping 24/7 the entire year. Does that make me an Oxymoron?

Nah. My cat has friends who visit him and he is constantly hanging out in my neighbour's houses/gardens. I take my dogs the dog park almost every day where they play with a lot of other dogs. Hell. My turtle has frog friends. They are all better than me and I ok with that.

Dog owners often take their dog for multiple walks a day but people without dogs don't think about just taking a walk for their own well being. As someone who takes a walk somewhat frequently, it's weird that just about everyone in my neighbourhood out for a walk has a dog, like it's weird to see someone walking without a dog.

Genuinely this is a huge contributing factor to why I got a dog. It felt too awkward to walk without one. So weird.

I have a theory that the owner's body and/or face shape tend to reflect their dogs. Can be a bit damming but it often holds up.

Seems like pets vibe with our energy, mirroring our social circles. If Fido's a party animal, maybe it's time to hit the town!

I do find this to be true. I have social anxiety and very rarely have people home. My cat is the most cuddly and playful thing with me but will stay hidden for a while when somebody else is here.

She was from the streets when I got her and nothing has changed. That's not on me.

That's what dog 2 is for.

This is false for my case, I really keep to myself and don't contact much people. My dog on the other hand has many friends and goes out every weekend. The only reason I go out usually is for my dog to be social. I rather stay home

My dog is a social rockstar. Everyone loves him at the hardware store. Yup- checks out. 😜

My dog has more friends than I do.

Contrary to popular belief, it's actually a minority of dogs that enjoy the company of other dogs or meeting lots of strangers. Most dogs are fine just interacting with their family and no one else. "Socialising" a dog just means getting them used to other animals and people existing around them or being nearby without reacting, it doesn't mean they have to interact.

Likes to be alone. Barks at anyone who comes near. Sounds about right

Unless you have cats or fish or rodents or ferrets or most birds....honestly, I think this only really applies to dogs.

I don't recall puffing up and hissing at strangers, maybe I should start???
