+408 its annoying when someone says "then you times it by 2" its MULTIPLY IT, amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

that is one of my biggest pet peeves ever.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

i also hate when people say "drawl"

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Drawl is a word, as in "He does not annunciate; he drawls." But yeah, I hate it when people use it to mean "drew."

by Anonymous 13 years ago

ya i mean it as in instead of draw

by Anonymous 13 years ago

then you minus four, and separate into equal groups by 3....

*It's

Another thing that bugs me is when people say "minus" instead of "negative." I know that "minus" is also acceptable to use in that way, but in my head "minus" is only used to describe a mathematical expression, as in "two minus four," but not "the answer is minus five."

by Anonymous 13 years ago

But it IS minus five. Minus is but the symbol, so they are saying symbol and number and aren't using "minus" as the adjective.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I know, and I even acknowledged that minus five is technically correct. It's just a personal pet peeve that bothers me on a purely aesthetic level.

Oh, I have nothing against YOU, sir. You're actually pretty nice, compared the the guy with whom I really was arguing.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I say that sometimes. Now I feel stupid. :/

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Well, the people only say that because we say "five times two." As long as you know how to multiply, it really isn't that bad.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

it's really not a big deal, As long as the people know what you're talking about, it's not bad

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I don't really care. I understand what it means each way.

Ppl just keep repeating the same comments but with different numbers

by Anonymous 13 years ago

My 8th grade math teacher did this all the time and it was all I could do not to strangle her.
