by Anonymous 13 years ago

Fatima.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

well thats easy to say, isnt it just fat - ee-ma?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

nope it's like Fah tim ah. Tim like the guy's name. I should just start telling people to call me Tim haha.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I know 2 Fatimas, 1 pronounces it like you and the other pronounces it fateema.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I have met sooo many Fatima your name is beautiful!!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

aww, thank you so much :)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

This sucks the self esteem right out of me. :x

by Anonymous 13 years ago

hahahahaha my name is like one of the easiest on the planet :D

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Good for you:)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

My name is easy to pronounce. People just choose to mispronounce it. D;

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Ewww haha

by Anonymous 13 years ago

whats yoour name

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Kirsten. People either call me "Kristen" or "Kiersten".

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I love the name Kirsten! I used to confuse it with Kristen when I was young though...sorry :/

by Anonymous 13 years ago

isnt that just ker-sten?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

my best friend's name is kerstin and people are always calling her kristen or kiersten haha

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I always hate it when that happens. xD My name is Maile, said as My-lee, but most people say it like May-lee. I've had substitutes call me Mail before, and Mah-lay. It's pretty aggravating.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Like...Miley?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I kinda like the pronunciation of May-lee...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Aww, I love your name! I thought it was pronounced my-la, though.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

People always call me Marissa. There's no "a" at the end of my name. The ignorance of people just astounds me.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

its like my sister louis always gets called louisa

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yeah mine is pretty simple, but it's always either pronounced or spelled wrong...it's Devon but it's either pronounced "Dev-O-n" or spelled "Devin"

by Anonymous 13 years ago

aww. My friend's name is spelled "Devean" but pronounced "Devin" and teachers are always like "Dev-ee-en?"

by Anonymous 13 years ago

A girl in my class is named Aviaaja. No teachers got it right, but you can't blame them. She is from Greenland.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

That's a pretty sweet name, not gonna lie.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Well, how is it pronounced?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I know a girl whose name is spelled La-ea. You pronounce the dash so it's pronounced as "Ladashea"

by Anonymous 13 years ago

NO WAY!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

you dont know her, thats all over the internet.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Well don't I sound like a dumbass now. hahah.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

no i honestly know someone named la-a (ladasha) i'm not lying

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Emileigh, pronounce Emily. It's not that damn hard, but I've gotten Amilia and Emilig. So I'm gonna stick with Emma. (:

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Aw it looks really pretty spelled like that

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Thank you, very much !

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I never got the awkward silence. "Ann-geh-lee-cah?" "...It's Angelica." There was an Angela once...By middle school I was correcting most of my teachers and telling them to just call me Angie.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Hhaah that happend to a girl in my class and she was like "wtf, it's Angelica..." haha

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Mines Marki, nobody spells it right and I usually get either "Mark" or the awkward silence.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I actually, to be honest, like that name A LOT!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Lol thanks, when I was younger I didn't like it, but now I like it being so unusual.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

my mom was gonna name me that! but then she went with emily. trust me. you're soooooo lucky. i'd rather have a sub not get my name right than have seven people say "here!" when they call my name.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

When I was younger i didn't like it, but now I love the originality of it, it makes me feel special :) Emily is a pretty name though, it's better than Brittany or Ashley or something like that

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I know someone who's name is Katian (Katie-an), but many people read it as Catty-n.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

(Penguins Fly): That's a pretty name!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Last name Wojcik (woah-JICK). I get woj-sick all the time. That's awful!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Haha aww.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I like it when they do it by last name. "(several unpronouncable last names)... Smith. Finally, one I know..." I give my teachers relief.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Hahahah so true!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

my last name is copp (like a policeman, a cop), but teachers always say "cobb?" or "cope?" i maybe understand cope, but there is a difference between p's and b's.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

haha yayy for dyslexic teachers! They try to make stuff harder than it should be...like my friend's name is Abeer (pronounced like "a beer") and teachers are like " A bear?"

by Anonymous 13 years ago

My name is Nzinga Chen, people always says Nuh-Zin-guh or N-Zin-gah or N-Zena but its just Zing-ah. Chen is sometimes pronounce correctly.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Woww, that's pretty simple! You should just go up to teachers and scribble out the N in their attendence sheets XD

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I wish I was still in high school so it would be easier to change. In my college there's no attendance sheets.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Aislinn. yeah have fun figuring that one out.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

like...Ice-lin?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Ice-lin? Or Eyes-lin?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Because I knew a girl named Aislen and that was how she had it pronounced.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Ash-lyn! Amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I have a very normal name because of my mother's foreign German name. Her name is Giselheid and no one can ever pronounce it. It's said like Gisel and hide put together. It's really not that hard of a name. Everyone calls and asks for "Gez-la-hid-ey?" So when I and my siblings were born, she named us normal American names.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

That's such a cool name!!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

My last name is Aka and some people pronounce it as acorn. How the hell do you get acorn?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Lamee people!! wow! haha. That's an awesome last name :)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

My name is Sommer , like Summer, and people pronounce it So-mer or go "Ssss...sss...oo? or o?" and I'm like "-sigh-pronounce it like summer the season."

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Are you serious?! I would just say it like Summer?...weird!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Exactly!!! But people can't realize it! But once they do, they say it's a pretty name :) So usually all is forgiven lol

by Anonymous 13 years ago

haha if only I was that lucky :/

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Why, don't you have a nice name?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It's Fatima haha but people usually refer to me as "hey you" because they can't remember how to say it haha

by Anonymous 13 years ago

My name is Amarpreet but every sub has pronounced it Am-or-preet which isn't so bad butt every person in my class has to correct the teacher. They care more than I do,haha.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

haha I know exactly what you mean!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

My asian name is Seol Young Park and teachers ALWAYS say it like "see-ole" or "seal". But it's pronounced seoul. Seriously, considering it resembles the capitol of Korea, why is it THAT hard -_______-.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Aww. It sucks when people feel like they need to have an "American" name because people can't pronounce their name :/ I like your name though!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

lmao no i don't have an american name cause of that; it's just easier on top of having to explain how i'm a hybrid. but i don't wanna live my life being called seal, see-ole or soul. -3-

by Anonymous 13 years ago

many of my cousins have names like that but Chinese, but they always have the teachers and other students call them "american" names.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

yeah i have a chinese name too but since i was born in korea, my legal name is seol young.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Mine's Daniela They always say Daniel or Danielle. =_= So I'm like Just call me Dani...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

That's such a pretty name!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

All of these comments further prove my point. People are ignorant.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yeah it's sad...but I like your name :)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Thank you. c: It's pretty odd, if you ask me. I was named after Roger Maris...the baseball player. o_o

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I actually have no idea because i'm not a sporty person :/ but still. It's nice to be different :) Just one day be like "MY NAME IS NOT MARISSA! SCREW YOU ALL!" hahahah.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

There's a guy in my grade named Ryne (like Ryan) but subs always get it wrong. Renee? Rain? Oh, Ryne.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Wow! That's stupid, it's very obviously pronounced like Ryne?!! Haha

by Anonymous 13 years ago

THAT. IS. SUCH. AN. AWESOME. NAME.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

My last name's Junken. People sometimes pronounce it yun-kin, which is pretty annoying. More often though, it just gets misspelled with an 'i' instead of 'e'. There are some pretty awesome names in this post xD

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Haha I knew a guy who's last name was Juhnke, and it was prounounced Junky. But people were like, Je-hunky? Personally I liked that one better :P hahah Oh I can see why it would be prounced that way...So it's just pronounced the way it's spelled? And haha agreed ;)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I know a girl whose name is Janee, and it's supposed to be pronounced "Yah-nah" but people always call her "Jane" by mistake. And my name is easy to pronounce, but it's so similar to another, more common name, that people always call me that one.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Oh I can see why that would be mispronounced...oh...what's your name, if you don't mind me asking...?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It's sort of like "Gold", but with a different starting letter. NO ONE gets it right.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Oh, that's lame!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

My name is always pronounced wrong my new teachers & substitutes x_x It's Anaijah.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

That's beautiful! Is it...umm...how is it pronounced? :/ i'm guessing An-eye-ha? sorry if that's wrong

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You were close =P It's Uh-neye(like "eye" with an 'n' in front of it) -uh . So it's Uh-neye-uh.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Ohh...is that the way people usually say it then? the way I thought?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I wish x_x They say Uh-neye-juh, An-ee-jah, A-nee-gah (idk where the G comes from) and so much more weirdness.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

My first name is leslie. But my last name ughh is hard .. Only Ppl who talk spanish (some of them) can pronounce it ..guajardo its spanish , I never thought anything about it until I moved where there was black white asian and everything else and its embarrasing like I dont even know how they pronounce it:/

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Aw that doesn't look too bad :/ But I like your whole name :)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I don't have this problem but a good friend of mine's name is Malyssa. It's pronounced like Melissa, but teachers have butchered her name in so many ways. They've called her Ma-LAY-sia, Muh-LIE-sa, Mal-EE-sha, Muh-LEES-a, and so much more. We've ever only had one sub pronounce it correctly the first time (but that was probably only because our sub was her aunt.)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

When I read this I pronounced it as "Melissa".... haha. *sigh* teachers....

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I pronounced it as Melissa the first time I read it, too. Teachers are...something else... We also had a teacher pronounce it as 'Malice', I kid you not. She was just like "What the fuck? There's an 'a' at the end of it, how can it be malice!?" Then she got sent to the dean for saying fuck to a sub. Haha...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Haha! But it's good that she stuck up for herself. And I KNOW! Subs are awful. I've gotten SO many variations of my name. (It's Fatima) Fe- tee - mah, Fat - ima (elementary was not fun), Faduma (<--wtf) and more. D:

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I agree. How do you get Faduma out of Fatima? I always feel bad for people who's names get butchered by teachers.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Haha. That's why whenever the teachers start nearing my name, I raise my hand and im like "I'M FATIMA." haha

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Haha nice. I should tell my friend Malyssa to start doing that.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Do it! haha it always makes the other people in class crack up.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Ha when school starts I'm going to tell her to do that

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Kewl. Malaysia IS a country....MY country to be precise ;)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I know that :) Actually, I think that her parents met there...or something weird like that... :)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Don't get all mad if you don't spell you're name the way it would be pronounced. Like Maile. Who would first pronounce it like My-lee?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Sorry for trying to be original?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Maile is a type of vine that grows in Hawaii.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Jana. There unlimited wrong possibilities to this one. But, seriously, it's a completely easy name.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

(Don't hate me if this is wrong.) Like...Jane-uh? :/

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Haha, no hate :) Like a mush-up of Jane and Anna. So it sounds like, Jam + A, except an N instead of M. I have no clue if that makes any sense. Haha

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Oh, I like that!! :]

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Hah, thanks! :) It's super unique, and I guess I like that about it. Even though all I usually get is Janna, Jenna, Jane, Jeanette, etc. Hah

by Anonymous 13 years ago

my name is acadia and seriously like only three people who i've been introduced to or substitute teachers etc have pronounced it right. almost EVERYONE says arcadia i'm always like wtf where'd you get that r?????

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Isn't Acadia a water?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

not that i know of... it's a park and an old country

by Anonymous 13 years ago

So is it like Uh-K-Da? Sorry if i'm wrong :S

by Anonymous 13 years ago

no but close its uh-kay-dee-uh

by Anonymous 13 years ago

pretty!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

aw thanks usually people just say its weird haha

by Anonymous 13 years ago

My asian (Chinese) name is (I forgot how to write the first one then...)安娜 , people have no prob with that Pronounced as Tai • An • Na , Diana but as Tai An Na, but it's my last name that confuses them, Brigette, pronounced as Bree•Jet that's the way you pronouce it, but, they always write Diana Brijet or Beriget, or even Brigate, why people, why??

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I know, right? *sigh* sillyyy people. haha.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It's my last name that gives people problems. Although I've had my first name pronounced Harley, which doesn't make sense. But now my debate partner and I are Harley Davidson, which is cool.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

That is amazing.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

They also managed to mispronounce the word Holy. It's one of our favorite stories.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I don't have that problem... my name's Jessica MacDonald. :P But I always feel bad for the kids who do, like this girl Zujeiliy... or however you spell it :/ It's pronounced like "Zoo-Hayley" but everyone stumbles all over it.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

haha you're luckyy. But mine isn't even that hard to pronounce and they butcher it every. single. time. :l

by Anonymous 13 years ago

What's your name? lol

by Anonymous 13 years ago

haha, it's fatima, take a stab at pronouncing :P

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Uhh. Fa-tim-ah? *crosses fingers*

by Anonymous 13 years ago

you cheated :P it's wayyy up there ^ ;)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I didn't cheat, I promise. D:

by Anonymous 13 years ago

haha well you are correctt! *virtual cookie* ;DDD

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Oh yeah. And then there's Charles Tranfaglia. Or something. God, I can't spell. There might be an "s" in there somewhere...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I ref youth soccer, and we have to read players' names off of their passes at check in. Before I read their names, I apologize in advance for mispronunciation and ask them to correct me.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

teachers always pronounce my name wrong...its lyndell, and every teacher pronounces it lyndull. its like 'NO! its D-E-L-L!' i hate stupid teachers who dont know how to properly read someones name.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

oh I think there was a girl in my class with that name last year! It's a really cute name :)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

My last name is Iannuzzi. I swear it's pronounced just like it's spelled...Eye-uh-new-zee. For some reason though, there's always that person that says Iannuzzo...where the hell do they get the o from????

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Okay, true story. When we were getting our flu shots at school, the office person (sorry i dont know what you call her) was calling peoples names over the intercom and we went to the cafeteria to get our shots. She says my first name, then pauses for about ten seconds (I just got up and left class already since i know its me). So, to quote, "Y-Y-Y-Y-Yosoykawiki? Please report to the cafeteria." My last name's Yosuico, pronunced Yo-swee-coe. But i still love my last name (kinda long story but i just had to tell it after years of mispronounciations)

by Anonymous 13 years ago
